Ok so I'm 1 hour and 9 minutes early, but the sentiment is the same.

We're down in Anchorage with Stephan's folks for the holiday and it's been good. This is the first time since July I've had 2 days off in a row so I've been loving it. Dante's been enjoying the snow and the semi-secluded-ness around so she doesn't have to be on a leash.
I'm also really luck in that I get along with his parents really well. I always hear horror stories about Mother-in-Laws and we've just never butted heads, I guess. His mom cracks me up- she has this rule where there's no sleeping in the same bed unless your married, and it's her house, so even though Stephan and I have lived together for 3.5 years now, we've always slept in separate beds while here. But, we walk in last night and Stephan starts asking about whether his room still has a bed in it (he had dismantled it last time he was here) and she says "Oh. I've given up on my rule!" so apparently she likes me ~_^ Or maybe she's realized that, after 4 years, I'm not going anywhere.

I haven't updated in ages. Not a whole lot new going on- still working like crazy though I've cut back from 60 hours a week, I only work 50 now and I have found the extra free time exhilarating!I got bored for the first time in 5 months last week, it was amazing! I joined a gym! We just had a Planet Fitness come up here and their prices are much more reasonable than Alaska Clubs, so Gym Membership for me! Stephan and I went for the first time today and I think I like it there though I am helplessly out of shape- 15 minutes on an elliptical should NOT make me hurt this much >.<

Wedding planning is still going smoothly. Not stressed out in the least, which is good! I guess that's a benefit of having a 2 year engagement- you have so much time to plan that by the time you have to actually make decisions, you already know what they're going to be. Got one HUGE package in the mail today with all the coats for me the Bridesmaids- they look so nice!

w00t update. Not too much going on. Still working 60ish hours a week between LuLus and Barnes and Noble. Still planning a wedding, which is going very well- My parents finally booked their room at Chena for the night of the wedding so I am DONE worrying about people on my side of the guest list, for a while at least. People on Stephan's side however, are still the cause of great distress ~_^
Just finished watching the entirety of Dexter, which is my new addiction. The way that he logics through some things just amuses the hell out of me. Also started watching Weeds, which I just dont find all that entertaining- Ive never lived in a suburb and I dont do pot so none of it really hit home for me like some other people I know.

I think that's all. I'm going to bed now. 2 15-hour days in a row is freaking exhausting!

On a whim last night Stephan, Rebecca and I went to see the midnight premiere of Star Trek. I figured I'd be up till 11:30 working at Barnes and Noble anyway, might as well go see it.

IT WAS SO SO SO GOOD. It made me happy in SO many ways, and more than just making the trekie in me joygasm. Very different plot line than the original series, which they explained a lot of away with a simple little multiple-dimensions-plot-twist-thing. The cast did an awesome job, Syler-Spock was great, even though I expected him to kill his mother with a pair of scissors.

How they brought the crew together was awesome, the back stories on Spock and Kirk were really good. Kirk was still a man-whore, which made me happy cuz Chris Pine is HOT. How they introduced Bones was great, and Scotty just made me happy.

I was kinda worried when I heard that J.J. Abrams was going to make it more of an action flick, cuz Star Trek has never been about action, it's been about adventure, which are two VERY different things that I kinda think recent Hollywood has forgotten. But I didn't think the movie was too action-y at all, it still felt, very much, like a Star Trek movie. Granted they didnt spend all the time they normally would wandering around planets finding out what's wrong and where, it was more just a *beam*get-everyone-off-now!*beam* than anything else but I think that had more to do with the story line than the director trying to turn it into something it's not.

So, anyway, I liked it, I'd recommend it to someone who WASN'T a trekie and to the crazy people who have Star Fleet uniforms hiding in the back of their closet.

So I haven't made an actual update in a while. I've been working at LuLu's Bread and Bagels for about 3 weeks now (it's kinda like the Fairbanks version of Bloomin Bagels only ALOT more hippy-ish) and I really like it. It's nice to work in a coffee environment without hating it- The owners rock and my manager is just awesome- unlike all the other coffee places I've worked at.
It's nice to have money again, and it's nice to make enough in tips that I can pretty much save my entire paycheck for things like SCHOOL and THE WEDDING.

Also, for those of you not stalking my wedding journal, I acquired plane tickets for my family yesterday for January (w00t!) and I am SO FREAKING excited about it! Not only do I not have to fly this Christmas but MY PARENTS/Sister ARE COMING UP!! They get to see Alaska- FINALLY!

8. My relationship with my parents got better when I moved 5000 miles away, they’re more like friends now, and I love it.

Things I wanted to be when I grew up: Vet, teacher, pro gymnast, dolphin trainer, pro ice skater, fire fighter, forensic lab tech-person, the person who figures out genetic codes for different animals, anything involving a micropipetter and a centrifuge, Marine Biologist or anything involving dolphins really, phlebotomist (which I’m still kinda thinking about as a side job), and Vet Tech
15. If I could instantly know how to play any instrument, it would be the violin.

17. I love ice wine, but don’t really care for many other types.
18. One of my favorite things ever is to collect quotes from people, hoard them on my computer, and randomly quote the quotes in everyday conversations.
19. I love to crochet and have completed 2 afghans, several hats, a pair of mittens and too many scarves to count. I want to learn how to make gloves, slippers, and start doing more complex patterns on stuff.
20. However, I hate knitting with a passion. I know how to do it but it is the BANE OF MY EXISTANCE! I would like to try knitting a neck warmer though.. if I can ever get over my hate.

22. I thought the Twilight movie was better than the book, if only because it didn’t include 300 pages of Bella crying and thinking “WHY DOES HE HATE ME?! IT’S SO UNFAIR!”
23. I’ve recently started reading Terry Pratchett books, and I ADORE Death.
24. One of my most loved possessions is a signed copy of Darwin’s Radio- Greg Bear signed it “Death by Apoptosis!”- it is mostly because of this and other awesomeness that I love Stephan’s Portland friends even though I’ve never met them in person.
25. Even though there are so many things not-right in my life right now, I’m generally happy with the choices I’ve made.

25 Random things about me

1. I love sleeping in. This of course, is encouraged by the fact that we only get 4 hours of sunlight.
2. I SHOULD be graduating with a 4 year degree in a couple of months. Instead I’m sitting here jobless and not in school.
3. On the plus side, I know what I want to do with my life- I’m giving up on the aforementioned 4 year Biology degree and going for a 2 year Vet Tech degree.
4. I’ve been in a solid loving relationship for just over 3 years without sleeping with anyone else or “taking a break” which is more than most people can say.
5. By the time we get married, I will have been engaged to Stephan longer than we dated BEFORE we got engaged.
6. I’ve lived with 2 guys for the past 3 years, in varying apartments, with varying guys.
7. I’m slightly OCD and ADD- not a good combination, but one that’s oddly suited to what I want to do with my life.
8. I was fired TWICE in 2008 (more than in the rest of my life). Once from a job I couldn’t care less about, and once from a job I loved- and I’m still not over it.
9. I miss the East Coast.
10. I want to live in Maine, Stephan wants to live in the Pacific Northwest…. This has been the subject of many MANY arguments.
11. I want to be done having kids by the time I’m 30.
12. But for now, I have a puppy. She’s fluffy and black and takes up more room on the bed then I do.
13. I’ve recently found out what it’s like to have an older brother… and I’m not sure if I approve.
14. Jobs I’ve had since coming to Alaska: Barista/ Pizza maker, Animal Caretaker for research animals including Musk Ox and Caribou, Barista, Mary Kay Consultant, Deckhand on a Riverboat for 2 weeks, and Vet Assistant for 3 months before getting fired for not knowing things no one ever told me.

24. With Sarah and Beqa, I acquired a Wii Fit last week. And I think they did a really good job with it. They have multiple motivational factors to keep you going and it's fun! Especially the Hula Hoops!
25. I’m trying really hard to lose weight, not just because Im getting married in a year, but also because I think less weight will put less pressure on my back and I’m just tired of looking in the mirror and disliking what I see.

So my mom is doing fine. She's home from the hospital and resting- she wont be going into work for another couple of nights.

They're gonna test her for sleep apnea next week. Which of all the things it could have been, sleep apnea is NOT the worst thing out there. At least it an be treated.

She thinks what caused the seizure was an extra pillow... she was sitting up in bed doing a sudoku or something and when she got tired she just put the book down and went to sleep and her head was more tilted forward than it should have been which cut off her airway, blocked oxygen to her brain and caused the seizure. So she's gonna sleep on flatter pillows and on her side more often, which is good.

So yes, everything's ok *sigh of relief*
